GLITCH Artist Residency Award 2026

Château du Feÿ, Burgundy, France | 26 October – 8 November 2026

Liberté Grace has been selected as the winning recipient of the GLITCH Artist Residency Travel Award, presented by Decentralized Pictures, to participate in an international experimental arts residency at Château du Feÿ in Burgundy, France.

The award supports the development of Words of Wise Water, an immersive artwork exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence, environmental memory and human consciousness.

Drawing upon original Antarctic imagery captured by the artist in 2003, the project imagines the resurrection of an extinct iceberg through artificial intelligence, inviting audiences to question a profound paradox: as humanity turns to AI for wisdom, are we simultaneously denying the ancient intelligence upon which it depends?

The residency provides an opportunity for creative experimentation, interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration with international artists working across emerging technologies and contemporary artistic practice.

Award: GLITCH Artist Residency Travel Award
Presented by: Decentralized Pictures
Location: Château du Feÿ, Burgundy, France
Project: Words of Wise Water

Writer's Workshop led by Jenny Zhang

Liberté Grace was selected for a 1-week Writer's Residency in 2023 to support the workshopping of RUBY — an original story and feature film concept by Liberté Grace — into a young adult novel and screenplay, under the mentorship of acclaimed poet and writer, Jenny Zhang. Feedback from Zhang on the concept and story narrative, pitched over a 45-minute peer feedback workshop included:

“This is epic. We're at the time scale of ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘Forrest Gump’. We're talking about a lifetime, we're talking about multiple lifetimes, we're talking about very, there's a lot… like an epic journey. And there's a lot of different twists and turns, and we're talking about, really, really big stuff. So I think that's incredible. You're like a supernova of creativity.”

Special thanks to Create NSW for their funding of the residency. The novel is currently being completed and is set for release in 2028.
